DR MARY LING

Specialist Breast Surgeon

Dr Mary Ling is a Specialist Breast Surgeon who is passionate about delivering the best breast cancer care to maximise life beyond cancer. She works closely with the local multidisciplinary team to provide personalised and co-ordinated treatment plans for her patients. She is an advocate for using the least invasive surgical techniques to achieve the best oncological and cosmetic outcome. 

Dr Ling is also an experienced General Surgeon, with expertise in gallbladder, hernia, melanoma and skin cancer surgery. She is accredited to perform colonoscopies by the Gastroenterological Society of Australia.

Education & Training

Dr Ling obtained her medical degree from the University of New South Wales in 2005.

After completing her internship and residency at St George Hospital, she commenced her general surgical training through the Sydney Local Health District network of hospitals including Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Concord Hospital and Canterbury Hospital. Dr Ling gained comprehensive experience in all aspects of General Surgery through subspecialty terms in Breast Surgery, Melanoma and Surgical Oncology, Colorectal Surgery and Upper GI Surgery at leading surgical units. Dr Ling was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2014. 

In 2015, Dr Ling moved to the Central Coast to undertake postgraduate fellowship training in breast surgery at Gosford Hospital. She has also completed further oncoplastic breast surgery courses through BreastSurgANZ and the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Community

As a Central Coast resident, Dr Ling is committed to supporting the local community. She is a major sponsor for Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, an annual Cancer Council fundraising event for all women cancers. 

Dr Ling published The Central Coast Breast Cancer Compendium, featuring stories of Coastie women on their personal experience with breast cancer, as a free resource for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients. She is also a regular media commentator on women’s health for local publications including On the Coast Families and Over 55s, Central Coast Express Advocate and Coast Community News.

Appointments 

Dr Ling is accredited at Gosford Private Hospital and Brisbane Waters Private Hospital on the Central Coast. 

Dr Ling was appointed as a Visiting Medical Officer at Canterbury Hospital in 2016, and retired from public practice in 2023.

Dr Mary Ling is a Consultant Breast and General Surgeon who is committed to providing expert personalised surgical care using the latest evidence-based treatment. 

Education & Training

Dr Ling obtained her medical degree from the University of New South Wales in 2005.

After completing her internship and residency at St George Hospital, she commenced her general surgical training through the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital network. Dr Ling gained comprehensive experience in all aspects of General Surgery through subspecialty rotations in Breast Surgery, Melanoma and Surgical Oncology, Colorectal Surgery and Upper GI Surgery at leading surgical units.

Dr Ling was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2014. She underwent postgraduate fellowship training in Breast and General Surgery at Gosford District Hospital. She has also completed further training in oncoplastic breast surgery through BreastSurgANZ and the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
